Brookdale

Brookdale is a census-designated place in Santa Cruz County with a population of 2,000 people. The smallest of the San Lorenzo Valley communities, Brookdale is located along Highway 9 between Ben Lomond and Boulder Creek. The Brookdale Inn and Spa, formerly known as the Brookdale Lodge, is well known here. It was originally opened in 1870 and has changed hands many times since then. In its heyday, the lodge was frequented by celebrities such as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, among other stars. Today, Brookdale offers forest living to those who want to escape the big city.
